If you have a smart device, then information on our national parks and their available camping opportunities are right at your fingertips. The following apps are a few we’ve played around with and have enjoyed. Some of these apps are free, others have fees attached so always shop around before you download.
- National Parks Explorer: This app provides comprehensive information on visiting national parks, including details about camping, hiking, fishing, bicycling and safety concerns. The app is free and includes just a few park guides, but you’ll have to purchase additional ones. Click here for more.
- Fotopedia National Parks: Although the park information contained in this app is limited, the stunning nature photography of QT Luong is sure to inspire you. This app is free, so it’s a good one to download if you’re interested in photography and using our national parks as your subject matter. Click here for more.
- National Parks by National Geographic: Probably one of the best guides out there, it covers almost all the parks and is a free download too. As you might expect from National Geographic, the app has amazing photos and very thorough information on each park, including guides to camping and reviews from other users. You can download additional info on a park of interest for .99 cents but it’s not really necessary as the app has plenty of information without it. Click here for more.
