Back to VIRTUAL EXPLORATIONS
You don't have to travel around the world or to the darkest reaches of the ocean for a Virtual Exploration. The Oceanscape Network partners with dozens of Oregon-based agencies, organizations and institutions to create local content, including closer looks at the science and research happening in our own backyards! Use the Exploration Calendar or Enewsletter links to the right to stay current on these kinds of virtual experiences.
Reclaiming an Island from Invader Plants
Youth Correspondents Josh Heisler and Russell Stone, and Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife Field Biologist Ann Kreager. venture into the muddy interior of Hayden Island. More properly known as the Gail Achterman Natural Area, the island is part of a large-scale effort to remove invasive aquatic plants and restore the natural water systems and species. Due to the COVID-10 pandemic, this feature has been delayed but we hope to present it in early 2021.
