Back to THE STREAM On Monday, March 23, 2020, join three of our Youth Correspondents as they explore the history and natural wonders of the Heceta Head State Park (pronounced Ha-SEE-ta). This 1,000 foot high (300 m) picturesque headland is located along the Oregon Coast Highway 101 between Cape Perpetua and the Sea Lion Caves. It is one of the most photographed areas on the Oregon Coast and a great place to spot gray whales on their annual migration, which unofficially begins in March! Back to THE STREAM In late February 2020, the Oceanscape Network will highlight the Oregon State University's Oregon Season Tracker (OST) program. OST is one of the state's largest and best known citizen science programs, dealing extensively with how climate change is effecting our state. Sometimes known as "community science" or "backyard science," these programs allow people of all ages and backgrounds to collect data for scientists and researchers looking at all kinds of natural phenomenon. Much of this volunteer work can occur in your neighborhood... or even in your backyard! Starting on Monday, February 17, 2020, Oceanscape will feature exclusive videos, photos and interviews with OSU personnel, researchers and students... and provide information on how you can become a Season Tracker citizen scientist! Back to THE STREAM The new Oceanscape Network website now makes it easier for you to see upcoming Virtual Explorations, Aquarium programs and community events through our online calendar. The calendar also allows you to download items directly to your own devices if you're using iCal, Google Calendars or Outlook. Most events will have links for additional information. Community events not hosted by the Oregon Coast Aquarium may have their own registration requirements and rules and outside organizers should be contacted directly for details. Enjoy! |
