Depoe Bay is a small oceanside community located along the Oregon Coast Highway 101 between Lincoln City and Newport. Although the population is just over 1,300 people, the town is a popular tourist destination famous for having the world's smallest navigable harbor and for its whale watching activities during the annual gray whale migration. The Oregon State Parks Whale Watching Center is probably one of the best places on the coast to learn about these massive marine mammals. A long ocean walk provides excellent views of the coastline and there are plenty of shops, museums and restaurants nearby. In addition, Depoe Bay is close to a variety of fascinating outdoor sites, including beaches, state parks, headlands, bays, forests and tide pools. Additional visitors information can be accessed through the Depoe Bay Chamber of Commerce. RELATED FEATURES: Uncharted: Sir Francis Drake's Oregon Adventure |
