Featured Locations on the Central Oregon Coast:
The Coast Range Mountains run roughly two-thirds the length of the state, starting near Portland and terminating near the north fork of the Coquille River. At its highest point (Marys Peak), the range barely tops 4,100 feet. Yaquina Bay marks the end of the Yaquina River where it empties into the Pacific Ocean. The bay's total area is approximately 3 miles (4.8 km). The bay is surrounded by the town of Newport. |

This large bay and estuary is located at the mouth of the Siletz River where it meets the Pacific Ocean. During previous decades, and like many areas along the Oregon Coast, the bay had been diked and drained. Today it is a thriving wildlife refuge. One of two historical lighthouses in the Newport area, this state park lets you wander through this Victorian structure. |
